If you have any questions or concerns regarding these Terms and Conditions, please contact us through the provided communication channel.
Sure! Here’s the re-written version of your provided FAQs and Terms and Conditions, with “Freedive UK” changed to “Delphy Pool.”
Q: Where are you based?
A: Delphy Pool is based in Bodmin, Cornwall. Newquay’s central location provides easy access to most of Cornwall, and with Newquay Airport less than an hour’s flight from London, it’s conveniently accessible from the rest of the UK. We use all of cornwall’s incredible coastline as well for shore and Boat dives.
Q: I don’t see the date that I want. Can you offer another date?
A: We understand that everyone’s schedules are different and always try to assist in finding a suitable date. Our AIDA courses run twice a week, with one during midweek and another around the weekend to accommodate working schedules. If this doesn’t suit you, please let us know. If we have enough time to gather more participants, we can schedule another course for you.
Q: Can you offer specific 1-1 training to achieve a certain goal?
A: Yes, we offer 1-1 training, although the rates will be higher than standard group rates. The rate will vary depending on the amount of time required and the number of days scheduled. We strive to keep the rates reasonable.
Q: Do I have to be physically fit to freedive?
A: You don’t need to be exceptionally fit, but you should be comfortable in the water, a confident swimmer, and have a basic level of fitness. All AIDA courses require the completion of a self-declaration medical form. If you have any concerns, feel free to reach out to us.
Q: Do I need to be able to swim to participate in the AIDA or spearfishing courses?
A: Yes, for AIDA and spearfishing courses, you must be able to swim at least 200m non-stop without fins and at least 300m non-stop with a mask, fins, and snorkel.
Q: My child wants to learn. Are they allowed to join a course?
A: Yes, children can join an AIDA Youth course. However, these are different from the standard AIDA courses, so please contact us for more details. The minimum age for all other courses is 16.
Q: Can I get a refund on a voucher I purchased?
A: Vouchers are non-refundable and non-transferable, with an expiry date of 18 months from the date of purchase.
Q: Can my partner/friend come along just to watch?
A: We cannot allow non-participants to join for free, as it wouldn’t be fair to paying clients. They may be able to come to the location, but they will need to give us space when the tuition begins. Sometimes, partners or friends may want to participate in elements of the course for a small fee.
Q: Can I fail the courses?
A: You can fail to meet the requirements for the AIDA courses, but we will always give you the best chance to succeed. If you do fail, you can return on another day to complete the elements you missed for a minimal fee. Non-AIDA courses cannot be failed.
Q: What do I need to bring?
A: You are welcome to bring any freediving gear you have, but it’s not necessary as we will supply everything. We recommend a winter wetsuit, even in summer, along with swim gear, a sunhat, waterproof jacket, shoes that can get wet, a small backpack, towels, sunscreen, and perhaps a camera. Don’t forget to bring all required paperwork, including your self-certifying health declaration, waiver, registration form, and course notes. We will provide water and light refreshments or lunches, as appropriate. If you have dietary restrictions, please inform us in advance.
Q: I used to scuba dive but was declared unfit to dive. Can I freedive?
A: Contact us for more information, but the answer is likely yes. Freediving is more self-regulated than scuba diving, as the only equipment that can fail is ‘you.’ If you don’t have a serious health condition, you’ll probably be okay.
Q: Is there anything dangerous in the seas around Cornwall that I should be scared of?
A: No, Cornwall has abundant sea life, and on a sunny day with good visibility, you might feel like you’re in the Caribbean.
Q: What happens if the weather is terrible? Will the course be canceled?
A: The geography of Cornwall’s coastline means there is often a sheltered cove we can use, even in poor weather. Deep water training can be conducted in a Our Dive site. It typically takes gale-force southerly winds to pose a real issue. If we do need to cancel, we will reschedule for free or refund the affected portion of the day. However, we are not responsible for any additional costs you may have incurred, such as accommodation or transport.
Q: What is included in the courses?
A: All equipment, (excluding boat fees), qualifications (AIDA and/or Delphy Pool cert), pool use, and course notes are included. Please note once the course Manuel is sent we can not refund you money for the course.
Q: Do you offer group discounts?
A: We offer variable discounts for AIDA courses and weekend trips. We also offer discounts for military personnel, students, and emergency services. Just ask for more details.
Q: I’m thinking about joining a Delphy Pool Holiday. What T&Cs apply?
A: The Terms & Conditions for a Delphy Pool Holiday are outlined below. Please read them thoroughly before paying your deposit.
Q: A few days before my course something serious came up and I cannot attend. Can I have a refund?
A: Unfortunately, no. By booking, you commit to attending that course, and we commit to teaching it. Last-minute cancellations cost us dearly, even in cases of illness or bereavement. However, we can move you to a future course at no extra charge, although we can only provide short notice of available spaces—sometimes as little as 24 hours. You can choose whether to attend, but we cannot pre-book this space for you.
Cancellations:
Loss or Damage to Equipment:
Equipment hire is free, but we take a £50 deposit on the day of the course to cover loss or damage. If any damage occurs, the rates for replacement are as follows:
You must agree to this before the course begins. No refunds will be given if you do not agree to the deposit.
Fitness to Dive:
All AIDA courses require the completion of a self-declaration medical form. This is available upon request before purchasing a course. No maximum age is specified, but the minimum age for all but AIDA youth courses is 16. Participants must be able to swim 200m unaided for all in-water courses. Failure to complete any requested forms may result in being unable to attend the course.
Deposits:
All deposits are non-refundable. By placing a deposit, you agree to commit to the course, and we will have adjusted our schedule accordingly. In some cases, the deposit may have been used to pay for aspects of your training.
Moving Dates (Illness, Bereavement, etc.):
If you need to move your course within 2 months of the start date but do not want to cancel, we can move your dates free of charge. Moving dates less than 1 month before the course is at our discretion and on our terms. In such cases, it may be 48 hours before a new date is offered due to costs already incurred. If we cannot move your date within the current season, we may have to postpone it to the next.
